You might be wondering why this place is on lots of separate servers instead of just one?
In many ways having just one central server is simpler, but as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc have shown this leads to bad governance and even dangerous behaviour by the owners.
There are good reasons why spreading a social network over lots of independent servers is much better. I can't fit them all in one post, so I've put them on the website:
