Opting instead for a range of trivial adjustments around the edges of the problem, which have provoked such storms of exaggerated protest whipped up by the right wing press & posturing out-of-power Tories, that Labour might as well have raised income (particularly for the well-paid) & corporation tax & weathered that storm instead.
