Today was less eventful, thank goodness. Even though there are constant aftershocks Summer seems to be the only one that is noticing the bigger ones.
She wanted to know why we live in earthquake country. I told her my family came here because there were railroad jobs, and houses selling for the amount of the delinquent taxes. My mother decided that she wanted to live off the reservation. I stayed because my family was here and they needed me.
We almost moved to Washington once, but all of our siblings had moved away, and my husband and I were the only family left for our aging parents.
Besides, I love it here. Humboldt suits me most of the time.
