Purple Cat with a PC-98 (and X68K) (npub1f8l…7frq) Doc Scranton (npub13uw…shsz) There were multiple entire websites dedicated to screaming about SA's administration and they couldn't predict how the coup actually evolved, much less change the course of the mothership. Probably because Twitter did what they couldn't - serve as a staging ground for taking control of the site. Twitter is the ultimate SA offsite, because unlike all of the other offsites in SA's history it is functionally stable. None of the crazies can sink(or stink up) the ship no matter what they do.

Twitter ideology was slowly re-imported into the site and eventually you got people like the ones in your screenshots moving the majority of the cash and doing the most complaining.

SA's dysfunctionality as a community made it easy for the administration to simply enable Lowtax in getting worse over the years. He wanted out for years, but he felt trapped, and they were happy to string him along and exploit that feeling until it no longer benefited them. By the end Lowtax was unemployable and in failing health, looking at a site comprised entirely of people who hated his guts that he should have sold 10 years ago at the very latest.

The complete collapse of his personal life - something that was his responsibility but certainly not helped by the company he kept - made pulling the trigger a very easy decision.
