yeah, the ML inside my jetbrains IDE is more useful for my coding work than any generative AI
the generative AI is really misnamed, it's just a frickin search engine, ultimately, that's what it's good at and when it gets it right it's because it was fed correct information and teh problem you want solved is already solved by someone
it can't work up a solution in any way at all, and the ML in my IDE always messes up types and semantics (very often putting just simply the last thing into the slots or picking some random type that was a separate but related thing in the same source file that had nothing to do with the types i was actually dealing with at the time
honestly, from a programmer's perspective, none of this tech actually helps do anything except create a new thing to learn about that mostly is wrong just like the old thing that mostly was also wrong
