About the verbiage of the excerpt itself, I'm not sure how the usage of jargon "compensates" for a lack of status. It's definitely indicative of low status which is why I try to avoid it outside of facetious contexts but it doesn't compensate for anything in my eyes.
I associate people who use slang with lesser education.
