**fun test: had a small jar of molding eggplant spread (had started to eat it but realized I was allergic to something in there, got lost in the fridge). Normal procedure for something as nasty as that has been to throw it in the trash (too gross to scrape out into municipal compost). Opened the lid, and chucked it in the BSFL compost bin an hour ago, and they've nearly eaten all of the 4 oz or so 🤯 ... also still 🤢 -- but at least I will be able to throw that glass jar into recycling instead of the trash.
