Over the summer I bought a car which lacks CarPlay. My iPhone connects via Bluetooth. My last car had it, so this is a "downgrade."

Mostly I set an audio stream on the iPhone when I first get in and leave it until I arrive. With CarPlay I was fussier, switching up services and hopping tracks constantly.

I use Maps and Waze sparingly and having a big screen to view directions isn't a big deal for me.

But on balance, I think I'm driving with fewer distractions than before, which is a plus.
