I feel really dumb for doing this but here it goes:
Only one or two of my online friends know anything personal about me and even they don't know much. With that said, one year ago is like a night and day difference career and financial wise for me. Not long ago I was laid off from a really good job in a bit of a niche market due to the company's declining revenue. The pay was at the very high end for this type of job and consequently I have been unable to find anything that pays half, let alone remotely close to what I was making.
I decided to change careers which is a bit sad for someone my age and not to mention that I was caught off guard and not prepared. Lesson learned there. Regardless and despite the current climate, I have decided to go to trucking school. The problem is, I live in a very rural area in the Midwest and there just isn't much around. For example, there's a Walmart in every direction from me but they are all 45-60min away no matter which one. The school I chose is a conservative tech school that is quite reasonably priced for their courses. However, truck driving school regardless of the type (private, tech/vocational, etc), driver training isn't something that qualifies for student loans. However, there are services out there to help with certain things.
One problem is the distance, which is an hour travel one way and the course is full-time Mon-Fri for ten weeks. That'll run through the middle of June but then I'll have to get a driving job once I obtain my CDL and any potential endorsements (I plan on getting Hazmat/Tanker X endorsement). There's yet another problem tho. Most places (decent to work for or not) require a minimum of one year driving experience. I'm kinda steering towards trying to find a local-ish day cab job and understand that the pay won't be all that great and I'll just likely be running my ass off making deliveries but I have to start somewhere and look at the bigger picture.
So, here I am with my tail between my legs. I just want to make it through this course and get my CDL and work my way back out of my current position. I feel ashamed when I see fund raising for NCD and frens giving donations on JJR. I really enjoyed giving when I could and that's actually why I yeeted this account here last fall. I felt ashamed and not worthy to even be here. Anyways, I swallowed my pride to set up a G2G Campaign more out of curiosity at first just to see if I would be able to use my online persona. A week later they approved my request (today) and then called me to say a prayer. NGL, I cried.
I honestly feel like the Lord is the only one who's been here for me. With that said, if you could be so kind as to visit my campaign and perhaps say a prayer or if you're able to consider more. I won't be on here much due to getting ready for school (I have a lot to get taken care of prior to starting) and then school will be full-time. I'll probably also have to find a part-time job in the area of the school to make it through. However, I'll occasionally jump in and eggplant your poasts. ššš»
