I used to think it’s JUST sexism (which is certainly there) but the truth is maybe that’s just how most ppl are -

Completely unable to look beyond what the current reality is and have the imagination to see something different.

But more importantly - if you are able to ignore all the haters and believe in your vision and have a plan of execution and strategies, anything is really possible.
