i forget who said "memory is identity" but in DST it literally is

what you remember is based on what you can anchor, and that is based purely on that pesky thing "IQ" which gives you your grid of memory buttons
low iq, few buttons, high iq many buttons
there is a period of disorientation when you are in peak capacity and then after that, you are in decline but this is the moment from which you grasp what you were made for
