I recognise the wisdom of your analogy LKN. However, I find that one's own fears are quite a different prospect to fears for a loved one. They are something else altogether.
I will force myself to do things on principle that I would never expect of my daughter. I feel very protective towards her.
Though in the end, we can never fully understand another person's motivations. And not everyone is capable of self-assessment; is it possible to be truly objetcive?
