My observation/post is that my experience with people born and raised in South Carolina are/were taught in school that the Civil War was over state’s rights.
For Nikki Haley to not have that answer deeply ingrained makes me think South Carolinians would be hanging/shaking their heads. (The ones I know would be.)
Per Wikipedia, she was born in Bamberg and attended Orangeburg Preparatory School (that probably didn’t teach state’s rights) and then graduated from Clemson.
