The Towsends go through how people celebrated Christmas in 18th Century America. It was not uniform by any means ranging from some still ongoing Christmas celebration bans in the Puritan heavy areas to two-week long celebrations with decorations in areas dominated by the Dutch and Germans. Special food was a big thing in areas that did celebrate, a lot of boiled puddings and roast meat. Even the poor houses made special meals for the occasion.
