It seems you are just saying you understand that social media apps are communication media (proper plural). As communication media, these have some strong positives, but current iterations have devolved into dogshit. Signal to noise ratio is terrible (misinformation, idiots galore), actively filters what the user doesn’t want filtered and manipulatively presents other messages (censorship, algos). Even without the recent downgrades, these media encourage bad IRL comms.
