Maybe I'm finally fed up enough to start building my Harmony remote replacement.. It's gone from "magic" to "mostly works most of the time" but I've got hardware lying around that should be able to handle "magic" again. (Printed case with an esp32 and a screen, with an IR emitter and some tinfoil for capacitive touch points.)

If you aren't old, the Logitech Harmony remotes are still the only decent way to control a modern 5-10 device entertainment system, with a remote able to control between 5 and 20 devices (depending on model.) Handles IR, Bluetooth and even some network devices (via it's ancient wifi.) The magic is how well executed the integrations are and how easy it was to make a single remote work for **everything**. Of course AV, but also game systems, Bluetooth for stuff like Android/Apple TV or PS4, HDMI switches, actually everything. And they work really well, not just sorta function.

Over the years they reduced the number of devices per remote and now I don't think the product even really exists outside legacy services. (Java web app that compiles firmware, etc. Last time I had to raid my junk pile to run it. Doesn't even virtualize well cuz of ancient networking practices but some tasks you can still force it to do in modern browsers.)
