Providing encrypted image "storage" for Keychat's private messages is different from providing image storage for Damus's public notes.
Keychat's message images only need to be stored for a short time, such as one week. Once the recipient receives the image, the image server can delete it. The server simply acts as an image relay.
In contrast, Damus's note images need to be stored for a much longer time, possibly indefinitely, which is true image storage.
This difference is similar to the distinction between providing a relay for Keychat and a relay for Damus. ⬇️

quoting note1lke…cgndFrom the perspective of how long notes are stored on relays, it could be said that Keychat primarily uses Nostr as a communication protocol, while Damus primarily uses Nostr as a storage protocol. note1fyp…q0gh
