So I just finished my first playthrough of #GTA5 since back in 2013 when it first came out. I don't play GTAO because it's too grindy and microtransaction-laden for my tastes, and so I haven't touched GTA5 in years because there's no new content.
But I have to say, for a decade old game, it really holds up well. The graphics are totally passable even in 2023, which shows how ahead of their time they were back in 2013, and the writing is absolutely excellent. The characters aren't exactly "like-able" but that's kind of the point of them, they're not "good" people, and they're not supposed to be.
The gameplay was super engaging, again holding up nicely 10 years after release. All in all, I had as much fun replaying it as I have had playing any recent AAA title, except maybe Baldur's Gate.
It definetely rekindled my frustration at rockstar though for abandoning story mode after launch in favor of selling shark cards..
