I don’t see mask bans as a new phenomenon, nor did I see dropping mask mandates as a new phenomenon. Both are the giving of permission by the state for ppl to lean into uncaring attitudes about disabled, chronically ill, and acutely ill ppl that they were already taught to have. Ppl’s ableism was not much constrained before. The emergence of covid made those attitudes and the actions that follow from them harmful on a larger scale.
