When you use Nostr for a marketplace like we are doing with RESIN, listings are stored as events that can be spread across many different relay servers. This means when you want to find something specific, a Nostr client needs to ask multiple relays and wait for their responses, which can take some time.
Current Nostr relay implementations can't efficiently search through events based on location. They also can't easily find items that are near a specific place on a map. We seem both desirable for RESIN to provide the best user experience.
We are bridging this gap implementing full-text search provided by Typesense.
Typesense acts like a smart assistant that keeps track of all marketplace items in one place. Instead of waiting for responses from multiple relays, it can instantly:
• Show all items on a map
• Find items near your location
• Search for specific types of offerings in your area
• Suggest nearby alternatives if what you're looking for isn't available
Think of it like having a local guide who knows exactly where everything is, rather than having to ask multiple people and wait for their answers. This makes browsing listings on RESIN much faster and more convenient.
