The fun part is moths have evolved to fly perpendicular to the "forbidden lamp". Well not quite the Sun, but the Moon. In their natural environment this just keeps them flying parallel to the ground, but when artificial light sources are present this feature becomes a ... bug: The light source is too close and flying at a constant 90 degree angle to it leads them right into the light.
