More reasons than that. Most of the Boomers, including me, grew up in much smaller houses than are built today. (The modestly sized townhouse spouse & I live in now has half again as many square feet as the Levitt houses that were considered perfect for a family of 4 in 1960.) We're on fixed incomes, want to keep our utility bills, maintenance costs, home & car insurance costs, & gas costs down. And walking to the grocery store keeps our hearts in better shape than driving everywhere!
