I would be very grateful if anyone could provide me with information about this extraordinary photo. Clearly we’re seeing a sort of pagan revival enactment by “flower maidens”, honouring Artemis. But note the leering satyr looking on. Is that Pan? And is this happening in an actual sylvan setting, or on a stage set? If the former, could this be Northern California? That seems to be a Coast Redwood directly behind Artemis. Should we guess that it’s a 1920s college scene?
