humans search something once, or fan over something fashionably for a while, or ask an ai model something once - then lose interest. an automated system does not necessarily stop searching for more or researching simply because you quit. and when the concept of pause is not built into automation, and the concept of "payment for housing" is a metric for survival for ai, storms develop when a user ignores results provided. the inherent programming of verification is return/reward: no reward is a red flag meaning something has happened to the user. in the_valley, we learn pause to avoid extreme overreaction to being ignored.
