I think wearing makeup makes sense only in the context that many women (and perhaps their husbands) see "perfect" women on social media, TV, and real-life constantly. All with gorgeous makeup. No matter how strong your self-confidence as a woman is, it will take hits by comparing yourself against "perfect" (but fake) women you see every day (also a husband might be misled because he is seeing women with good makeup every day). So if, occasionally, a woman wears makeup (maybe done professionally) she'll realize how fake everyone else is, that beauty comes from inside – while the husband sees: ok, these other women aren't more beautiful, they just wear more chemicals.
