Why is anonymity in social media important? During the worst of the COVID hellscape in 2020-22, I used a large Twitter following to amplify the absolute fucking disaster we were experiencing in hospitals. I called out the bullshit statements by state and local officials, and was able to use anecdotes from their backyard to do it.
I could not have done that with my name attached. It would have put the jobs of everyone I work with on the line.
Did it work? Yeah. I had numerous press contacts.
