On the surface, I think it is a good idea. But, every time the government has changed What the Market Will Bear it has gone badly. College tuition, housing, and healthcare are the primary examples. I think the only way to make this work long term would necessitate some sort of price controls, which is near impossible in our current incarnation of Capitalism.
