I wonder if the intermediary (hosting the website) could be considered a money transmitter here.
Not a lawyer, but it seems one could reasonably argue that all transactions are made P2P (also, LN nodes are not considered money transmitters anywhere, afaik), because the intermediary never touches the money. All they would have to do is allow users to host something akin to a bank account number on their profile, which seems comparable to a link to your Discord or home address.
Again, not an expert, but this might be interesting not just for users. Imagine the costs saved not only on having to integrate payment systems, but not having to deal with all sorts of regulations around money transmittal.
And then imagine all it could make possible ...
