Ideas for budget used camera/lens setup for bird photography wanted, kind fediverse photographers! I'm slowly saving up to get better gear than I have now, and am starting to panic about how much what is currently my # 1 pick is going to cost (Olympus E M1 Mark II and either the M.Zuiko 75-300mm Mark II or Lumix 100-300mm Mark II, if I could find good deals that would be about $1200 CAD with the first lens, $1300 CAD with the second). I've looked around a lot but the options are overwhelming, so I'm hoping people might be able to point out some options I haven't considered. If I lower my budget a bit, ARE there any possibilities??
Budget: $1000 CAD (please keep in mind currency conversion in suggestions if you can)
Purpose: mainly bird and wildlife photography, but also general nature photography (a bit of macro, landscape, etc)
Needs: at least 300mm reach (I know at this budget anything more is impossible), mirrorless camera very preferred, sturdy and up to being hauled around trails for years to come. Weather sealing a huge bonus I'd really like to have but will consider options that aren't.
If your budget was that small (a budget that seems absolutely huge to me, but you know, small for wildlife photography in particular), what combination of cameras body and telephoto lens would you pick?? #photography #birdphotography
P. S. No one tell me 300mm isn't long enough for birds, that's what I'm using now and I'm getting shots I'm really pleased with, thank you!
