It's gotta be scary for the friends and family of the Israeli hostages to know that the hostages are more useful to the government dead than they are alive. After all, dead hostages can be martyrs. They can't go on TV or write books about how their own government kept bombing the buildings they were in, or how their captors did more to keep them safe than their own government. How pissed off they are that they were stuck in captivity for over a year because their own government would rather use their captivity as a casus belli for ethnic cleansing than agree to a ceasefire.
