Here things work a bit differently, as part of the public healthcare system, doctors and hospitals are limited in what they can charge, so a 30k hospital bill won't happen.
The down side of this is if you're fabulously wealthy and have some rare disease, you can't just spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on hiring The Best Of The Best, it's just not legal... But if you're in that situation, you can fly to the US or somewhere else to get treatment anyway.
