Inevitably during city riding (usually due to some asshat driver suddenly pulling in front of me), I'm forced to quickly apply the brakes. When I'm doing that, I either don't have the ability or foresight to downshift. Especially on Queens Blvd, it's like 2-3 times per trip because of their shit merging.

Then I'm stuck either mashing the pedals, or mashing the throttle; either way, horrible for my knees, the drivetrain, the motor, etc.
