I was surprised that Apple still didn't allow apps to use NFC on iOS, but definitely not surprised that now that they are finally letting it happen, publishers will have to enter into a revshare agreement if they want their apps to do so.
"To incorporate this new [NFC] solution in their iPhone apps, developers will need to enter into a commercial agreement with Apple, request the NFC and SE entitlement, and pay the associated fees."
