On Mac OS 15.2, https://podnews.net/update/gender-bias-video-podcasts has both linked from that "Listen" button. Chrome plays the Opus file (the first in the list); Safari trips over to the m4a file. The spec says "the browser will use the first one it understands".

https://caniuse.com/?search=opus suggests Safari only plays Opus audio if it's in a webm container; and similar for iOS.

https://podnews.net/audio/podnews250101.opus is an Opus audio file, by the way, if you've a Mac handy. It'll play in Chrome. It'll not play in Safari.
