Erling Haaland's record of 111 goals in 265 Man City games is obviously outstanding. But I have an impression that a lot of those were "bonus" goals, scores when the outcome of a match was already assured, and which therefore didn't really matter. My sense is that he scores much less rarely when City are level or a goal behind.
Does anyone know of a way to quantify that and compare it with other goalscorers, to see if my intuition is correct?
