considering doing a cursed railway loop for my next Europe trip.
the problem is that i want to take the train ferry to Messina, IT, but once you're in Sicily you don't really have anywhere to go. you can continue on to Valletta, MT but you have to double back to reach anywhere else in Europe.
that is, if there weren't an operating Palermo, IT - Tunis, TN ferry. As of a few months ago there is now also an international train service from Tunis, TN to Annaba, DZ. From there, you can take national services to Oran, DZ then a ferry to Almeria, ES.
Unfortunately you can't continue to Morocco because the Morocco/Algeria border is closed. If you want to get to Morocco you'd have to take a ferry from Almeria, ES to Nador, MA or Melilla, ES (weird spanish colony)
(i have no idea how people make real maps so have a janky plan from inkscape)
