I’ve found that nobody really talks about or knows much about donkeys, and I’ve depended on a lot of general horsemanship basic knowledge. You’ll need a farrier or trimmer who understands how to deal with their hooves, which can’t be trimmed to the same shape as horse hooves. But a general equine vet should be able to handle the rest of their welfare.
I don’t know where in HumCo you are, but I have a friend who’s an experienced barefoot trimmer with all equines. She lives in McKinleyville, but she travels all over the area. If you get a donk, let me know and I’ll give you her contact info.
