It sure was eye-opening watching a candidate family doctor speak to me with honesty and respect, then turn to my wife and immediately start not-so-subtly talking down to her.

I mean, she's told me that that kind of thing happens, and I know the statistics about how women tend to get under-diagnosed and under-treated, but I fully admit I don't think I really deep down believed it until I saw it with my own eyes.

And before you jump to conclusions, the doctor was a woman.
