So the figures are in… This week’s road trip totalled 791 miles (236 in England and 555 going half way round Ireland). The car used a net 203kWh giving an efficiency of 3.9 miles per kWh. My long term average is 4.3 m/kWh and in hot months I sometimes get around 4.7 but this was a trip with long stretches at motorway speed into headwinds so you expect less. This happens to petrol/diesel cars too but the measurement in those are traditionally less granular and you don’t notice.
