Compassion is a natural human instinct that can be, and often is, suppressed by white supremacy. The thing is that compassion is also rational, logical. It makes more sense to treat people who are down with compassion instead of contempt and cruelty. Punishment just doesn't do what we're led to believe.
We're brought up with the idea that life is a zero sum game here in the US. You have to take what you need, because nobody's going to give it to you. Look out for yourself, because nobody else has your back. Life's not fair. The lord works in mysterious ways. Bootstraps, rags to riches, etc.
Other people getting what they need doesn't reduce your chances of also getting those things unless it is designed to be that way. We absolutely have far and away enough resources for everyone to do more than just survive. We could all not only be sheltered, fed, and safe, but we could also all find a higher purpose and actively move to fulfill it.
Life doesn't have to be the way it is today. If someone is trying to convince you to hate a group that you aren't familiar with, they are using that to divide you, to make you weaker, to distract you. It is not only sleight of hand, it also works to harm their enemy, which is you, your friends and family, your town, your people. Your hatred hurts YOU, too.
You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to overcome ignorance, show compassion, and make everything better for all of us. We can all be better together.
