does anyone know offhand how much the actual CO2 differences are between passenger trains and airplanes when you consider the ongoing carbon cost of manufacturing, bridges, rails, infra, etc?
I'm sure planes are still more carbon, but like, a passenger train is a lot more vehicle-per-capita, and it's much less likely to be fully filled for the entire trip.
bc steel rails, concrete sleepers, bridge maintenance and replacement, storage yards, and way more trips without passengers makes me wonder
