Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado, is a great place to visit, but not in summer These are the Anasazi cliff dwellings that one can walk through. There is also a sample of their pictography. Walking around on the mesa itself you can see other village sites which were discovered after a major fire burned away all the concealing vegetation. These discoveries changed the notions archeologists had of the populations of the area, and some interpretations of the function of the cliff dwellings.
