ok so i'm seeing some posts up in arms about the US gov "bringing back selective service" (the registry that would be used in the unlikely event of a military draft) by making it automated

fact check: registering is already de facto mandatory for most young US men (as state-defined) because without doing so you lose access to college student aid benefits and a whole host of other government benefits

so yes this new proposal is fucked up but not really that much more fucked up than it already has been?
