In the last 55 years of space exploration, USA went from being able to send people on the moon, to shuttle people into very large low-earth orbits station (spacelab), to send them through Russian old capsule to a narrower (although bigger) international station, to, ultimately, not being able to recover them from said station.
But, fear not, modern space capsule designed by a crazy billionaire have touchscreens instead of real controls !
