For some reason my carpenter ant queen has decided to lay a small clutch of eggs. So, now I'm wondering if they are too warm (they should mostly be asleep now it's winter) But it's not a big clutch (about 20 eggs, she can do 100) and this has happened before. Maybe it's just to keep the population stable so when the "big lay" starts in spring there will be enough hands on deck?

Or maybe I gave them too much winter food and they just decided to store it as eggs?

I wish I could just ask her!
