In my experience, the older goths in the club scene were not really in community with the younger "mall" goths, and to the extent that the younger folks had access to Dead Can Dance and The Cure or underground industrial EDM, they *did* listen to them too. The mockery that mattered was the stuff in pop culture. In my experience elder goths were largely complaining amongst themselves.
