Good morning #coffeechain, how's your brew treating you?

Also, a warm #plebchain welcome to all of the new Nostriches and Nostrichettes here to help #grownostr! This is the coolest place you can point your digital presence.

Important things to know, especially if you come from Twitter:

1. Nostr is freedom, which means personal responsibility. There is no delete. And even if it may seem like you requested a delete, nothing truly goes away. We are ruled by the law of fuck around and find out here! Have fun, be authentically you, but act accordingly. There is no centralized moderation, use listr.lol or your client's block function to avoid content that doesn't suit you, and learn to scroll. We are our own moderators.

2. Keep your private key (nsec) safe, it's your login data. Your public key (npub) is your external account, and it's the foolproof way to find someone if usernames or nostr addresses don't find someone to tag. @nsec almost always works.

3. This isn't a platform, it's a protocol. That means you own your identity, and your account, your follows and followers, and your notes(posts) are there in any client you use. Whether it's an excellent mobile app like Amethyst, Damus or Plebstr, or it's a webclient. Webclients work well on desktop, and most work on mobile browser's as well, check out snort.social primal.net Iris.to satellite.earth and many others to get the full nostr experience. There are new clients and micro apps appearing almost daily, as this open source world grows very very fast.

4. Relays are important, and without centralized servers that can be taken down they are all that moves your data. More relays is good for your signal, but too many is a huge burden on your data bill and device resources. 5-10 high quality relays is a good amount, and consider a proxy relay or two that multicasts for you. n0p0.shroomslab.net and nos.lol are excellent options.

5. Follow people , be sociable, be kind and have fun! You will find simple things like saying GM (good morning) and GN (good night) or bringing positive engagement help you build your network quickly.

6. If you have a bitcoin lightning wallet, add the lightning address to your profile, so others can zap(tip) you. You will be surprised how many will show appreciation for your content through value, vs just a like. It's part of the culture here.

7. You'll see a lot of bitcoin content, because most of the developers and active early adoptedrsare intelligent bitcoiners. If you're a bitcoiners you will love it, but it can be a bit much for some. Don't leave! We need and want more diverse content of all types, and the topics are growing daily. You'll also find tons of gardening, permaculture, coffee, homesteading, art, music, food, philosophy and so much other content. Hashtags are your friend! #plebchain and #grownostr are a good start.

8. Don't be afraid to ask for help! There are a ton of active and informative plebs (you'll see Pleb and Nostrich used as playful terms to refer to Nostr enthusiasts often) who would love to help. I could post a ton of resources, but it's a bit overwhelming, I know πŸ˜‰

9. If you are interested in the digital bitcoin economy, this is an excellent place to find others who want to transact with you, or who offer products and services. If you enjoy handcrafted seasonings, good coffee and related stuff consider checking out renegadebutcher.com or message me!

And howdy!
