In this case, the CJEU considered the processing of personal data by a company which makes use of a software application to record the screens of its customers. The court held that such processing was a violation of the data protection directive 95/46/EC, unless the customer had been provided with prior information about the purpose for which the recordings were made, and had also given their prior informed consent for the recording. Additionally, the court held that the right of the data subject to erasure (or right to be forgotten) established by the GDPR could be invoked for recordings of screens.
