All persons over the age if 21 have were only given the vote in 1928 before that many people were excluded in the basis of age, (non) property ownership and gender.
The current age of 18 to vote only happened in 1969.
At the moment 16 and 17 year olds CANNOT vote in Westminster elections but can vote many other devolved and local elections.
Don't dismiss your vote as most people have only been able to do for less than 100 years.
