I was showing my project to a computer science professor (a long time ago) and I downplayed the number of lines of code I had written, as not an indicator of anything.
He said "it's a metric".
Changed how I thought of lots of things.
I recall he meant it did matter, but only as much as it deserved. Lines of code is not a great metric, but it's better than say the brand of floppy disk the code was saved on. (long time ago 😎)
